Ahoy Matey! Check out the Pirate Loppet!

The annual Larch Hills Pirate Loppet is set to take place on Friday, February 2, 2024, starting at 10:30 a.m.

A blasting blackpowder cannon signals the start of the loppet, which is for students up to Grade 8, and sets the tone as skiers, teachers and organizers alike dress up in their best pirate attire for the fun event!

This long-running and unique event, thanks to tremendous volunteer and community support, is the largest children’s ski loppet in the province. It is not a race but rather a participation event and is designed to encourage youngsters to learn how to cross country ski.

Participants are invited to dress like a pirate, have a fun ski, have some refreshments, and maybe even win some prizes!

Students register with their school to take part in the event.

The School District would like to thank the many community sponsors and in particular the Larch Hills Nordic Society for all their work to create this opportunity for our students.
