School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap)

Student Use of Wi-Fi

School District 83 has wireless (Wi-Fi) technology access in our schools. In keeping with the directions being set by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, the District supports the use of information technology for educational purposes and believes, that if used effectively, it is a means to improve student learning.

To ensure responsible and effective use of the wireless network, both a parent and the student will be required to agree to the School District 83 Digital Citizenship policy before accessing the network. This policy outlines user responsibilities and provides guidelines for the use of electronic personal devices on the District network.

The agreement process will be conducted online through the District’s website, accessible via Parent Connect and Student Connect This agreement only needs to be completed once. Parents have the option to revoke their student’s permissions to access Wi-Fi by revisiting the agreement form and changing their response to “No.”

We look forward to the enhanced learning opportunities that wireless technology will bring to our students and educators. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a safe and productive digital learning environment.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school principal and they will be happy to help.
