Requesting to Present Directly to the Board
The Board of Education values input from individuals and groups. During meetings, the Board officially welcomes visitors and delegations, and meetings are planned to make people feel as comfortable as possible. To ensure that the business of governing education efficiently takes place and that all viewpoints are heard, board meetings follow structured rules of order.
Because many concerns can be resolved at the staff level, it is recommended that where possible, public discuss their concerns with District staff prior to appearing before the Board. Staff can often provide valuable background information and recommend the appropriate next steps that may eliminate the need to go before the Board or set the stage for a meaningful and constructive interaction with the Board.
If you wish to present to the Board as a delegation, please complete a Delegation Request Form and submit it to the Secretary-Treasurer’s office eight (8) days before the regular Board meeting. The Secretary-Treasurer will review the delegation request form, and, in consultation with the Chair, Vice Chair, and Superintendent, will determine whether to schedule the delegation in an upcoming board meeting. If approved, the Secretary-Treasurer or delegate will notify the delegation of the date, time, and place of the Board meeting. Delegations are asked to limit their presentation to a maximum of 10 minutes.
If you have any questions regarding the delegation process or require assistance, please contact us.
