Shuswap Middle School’s trip is for Grade 8 French Immersion students to experience French Canadian language and culture. The trip, organized by Jaimie Vezina and Melissa Dalgaard, will include 44 students along with school principal Wendy Woodhurst and some parent supervisors and will run from May 26 to June 1.

Students will take part in city tours, cultural and historical activities, museum visits, traditional meals and outdoor excursions.

Salmon Arm Secondary’s request, which also received approval, was for the SAS Jazz Combo to participate in the national music festival, MusicFest Canada, which it qualified to take part in.

The five members of the combo will both perform, be adjudicated and take in concerts. This trip is May 15-18th.

Izik-Dzurko thanked parent Sandy Berke for all her hard work in getting the word out about the combo. Two local service clubs, Rotary and Lions, stepped forward and donated to the group to help make the trip possible.
