Doug Pearson Memorial Scholarship – Indigenous Education

Doug Pearson (July 31, 1946-February 27, 2022) was a respected educator all his working life, starting as a high school science teacher and going on to become a Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and finally Superintendent of School District 83 for 14 years until his retirement in 2011.
In 1990 he established a student exchange program between SD 83 and Japan and continued his support of this program until his retirement. He was also a strong advocate of school music programs and established a scholarship for Indigenous students seeking advanced education.
In his private life, Doug was much loved for his humour and strong friendships. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining,and travelling.
