HELPING WITH FOOD SECURITY

1. For those of you looking to support more long-term solutions to food security, there is a Salmon Arm Food Security Giving Group. Funds raised will be split amongst food projects from the Shuswap Food Action Society, Shuswap Family Resource Centre and Switzmalph Community garden. You can check it out at: https://my.charitableimpact.com/groups/food-security-salmon-arm. If you donate now, the Martin Family Empowerment Foundation will match any donation of $1 or more.

2. To help support our local restaurants, SAEDS has started #TakeOut Wednesdays! Support your favourite restaurant and enter to win one of four $50 gift cards. A list of restaurants offering take out is available at :https://twitter.com/hashtag/shopshuswap?lang=en

3) Downtown Farmer’s Market begins May 16th at Ross Street Plaza. The market will look and feel very different this year, but remains a great opportunity to support our local farms and strengthen our local food system! There will be both a physical market (with covid precautions in place) and an online market at www.localline.ca/salmon-arm-market. The online market will be opening May 11 for pre-orders. These orders can be picked up at our curbside booth at the market on the 16th.
