What is sexting? Sextortion? How does it affect our youth? What is legal and illegal activity? What is the sexual age of consent?
Parents, youth and others interested are invited to take part in the online session tonight (Monday, March 13) at 6:30 p.m.
Led by a Safer Schools Together trainer Scott Rothermel, this will wrap up SD83’s three part parent session on internet safety for youth. The first session looked at the Risks and Rewards of online gaming, the second was on social media, and this final session is on sexting, sextortion and sexual age of consent.
Rothermel was a police officer for 12 years and has spent the last 10 years working with youth and specific-youth related programs. He is the Safe School Coordinator for a B.C. school district where he works in the area of violence threat risk assessment (VTRA), Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT), crime prevention, education and more.
