Lily Brook, a Grade 12 student at Salmon Arm Secondary, and past graduate Maggie Manning are being featured in the TV series All-Round Champion! The two are inviting the community to attend the premiere of Episode 1 Season 5 on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Salmar Grand Theatre in Salmon Arm! Lily and Maggie are taking part in this Canadian reality television series with other athletes from Canada and the U.S.
This season will feature nine athletes, including Lily and Maggie, competing in nine sports. Filmed last July and August in Ontario, the athletes compete as they try to master each other’s preferred sport. Each athlete selected for the cast is an expert in a sport they know well and have played many times. They coach they other athlets for three days to learn the different sports. Then all the athletes compete in each sport and try to win a gold, silver or bronze medal (each worth a certain amount of points). Points are also awarded for things like good sportsmanship. At the end of the season the athlete with the most points wins.

Lily is a wheelchair boxer, national para skier and a wheelchair basketball player. She also does public speaking in schools about her disability.
Maggie is a para-hockey player and outdoor enthusiast.
She also helps to raise awareness and increase involvement of youth in adaptive sports, and was recognized with the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award for her efforts. She now serves on the International Disability Alliance Youth Caucus in attempt to initiate global change.
Come enjoy the first episode and cheer on these local athletes! Admission is by donation with funds going to support the athletes’ travel costs.
