To the families of SD83:
I would like to take this opportunity to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving. Despite the many challenges we face right now, I am grateful for the tremendous support you have given school staff across the district as they navigate the daily complexities of COVID-19.
Please know as a district we continue to hold student and staff safety as a priority. To those families who are experiencing COVID-19 first-hand, I wish you and your families health and wellness. My thoughts are with each of you!
During my own reflection about things to be grateful for, I am certainly reminded of the many blessings afforded to me within SD83. Without question, this district is filled with staff who are caring, compassionate and highly skilled. The five trustees who make up the Board of Education are committed to ensuring your children have positive experiences and that the “student first” philosophy, guides our work. Finally, we have a whole host of stakeholders, rightsholders, and employee groups who consistently put kids at the centre of their support and concerns. This certainly creates a strong, united team that assists in fulfilling the mandate of the district.
Most importantly, we have you the parents/caregivers/guardians who consistently support us in the work we do. Without your understanding, patience, and feedback, SD83 would not be the fantastic workplace and learning environment it currently is. Thank you for that! Thank you for your willingness to cheer us on and your willingness to provide us grace when we don’t quite meet the mark. I cannot begin to adequately articulate how important you are to me and the district as a whole.
May you find time to relax over the weekend and enjoy your children! Happy Thanksgiving to you and those you love!
