Time capsule to be opened!

In the Year 2000 the world didn’t end with Y2K Destiny’s Child was topping the pop music charts, ER and Friends were popular on TV, and the use of mobile phones continued to grow as mobile devices became “essential” consumer products. You know what else happened in the Year 2000? Ranchero Elementary School put together a time capsule for future students!

Originally the capsule was to be opened in 2020, however due to COVID it was postponed until this year, explains current Principal Doug Cumming. “On Friday, September 24th at 12:30 p.m. we are excited to announce that we will be opening the time capsule.”

He adds that with the health regulations in place, as the ceremony will be outside the school, 100 visitors are able to attend. “We are hoping that former staff and community will come out and share with us what past students and staff are sharing with us.”

To help with planning, if you are going to attend it would be greatly appreciated if you would call (250 832 7018) or email (ran@sd83.bc.ca) to register.
