New student registration on Tuesday, September 1

Are you new to School District No. 83? Welcome!

New student registration will take place on Tuesday, September 1st from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at all district schools and, just in case you were wondering, COVID-19 protocols will be in place!

Not sure which school your child will attend? Please click here for an online school locator program where you can enter your address and it will tell you your child’s neighbourhood school.

If you prefer, or if, by chance, this locator tool does not work for you, please call our staff at the Operations Department at (250) 832-9415 and they can tell you what your child’s catchment area school will be, and, if your address is serviced by a school bus! If you know that your child(ren) will be taking a school bus please ensure you call the Operations Department at (250) 832-9415 and register them. That way you will be contacted with pick up and drop off locations and times.

Can’t make it to the school during new student registration time? Please give the school a call and make other arrangements! A complete list of schools and telephone numbers is available on our website (www.sd83.bc.ca). Go to About Us and then Our Schools.

In order to meet Ministry of Education requirements, the school district must have documentation for all students entering K-12.
Documentation includes (complete documentation requirements available here):

  • Appropriate proof of citizenship or status in Canada for both students and parents, and appropriate proof of age for students. Examples are an original birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate, immigration or refugee documentation.
  • Guardianship – (if required)
  • Appropriate proof of residence (complete list of accepted documentation available here)
  • Most recent report card from previous school, if available

For students entering Kindergarten:

As above, plus your child’s immunization record, BC Services Card, medical and emergency contact information would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions please give the district office a call at (250) 832-2157.

Thank you and welcome to School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap)!

Hi there I have a question about students from another school district. If the student is enrolled in another school (terry fox senior secondary in Port Coquitlam)and he is doing school online(home school) Up here in the Okanagan, is he aloud to come to pleasant valley senior secondary to work on his school work? Or does he have to be enrolled in pleasant valley senior secondary. He is in grade 12 and is a high functioning autistic. Thank you for your assistance. My email is cristievoth@gmail.com
