She asked and the community answered! Overwhelmingly!
Chelie Elsom, a certified education assistant at Shuswap Middle School, along with a group of students and staff, have been working on a project dubbed “The Secret Garden”.
They have been working on making the two courtyards at the school, and the outside peace pole garden a beautiful place for students and staff to enjoy.
The problem . . . they didn’t have enough plants. So, Chelie reached out to the community asking for perennial plant donations and she had more than $1,000 worth of plants donated to the project!
“We are so grateful.” She said the plants were put to very good use and they want to thank everyone who answered the call and donated their plants!
Shuswap Middle School Principal Wendy Woodhurst agreed. “These courtyards are wonderful places for outdoor learning and enjoying lunch in the sunshine! Thank you to the community for the donations and to our wonderful crew of gardeners at SMS!”
