Just a reminder about two important sessions for parents this week at the District Education Support Centre (DESC) in Salmon Arm.
On Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a presentation to raise awareness about the health dangers of vaping. This will be followed by a question and answer period with a panel consisting of public health nurses, doctor, substance use clinician, and SD83 administrators.
On Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. there will be an important planning/consultation session for the SD83 Board’s Long Range Facilities Plan. The Board has been hosting a series of public sessions around the district gathering input to guide them in developing the plan.
At the session an overview of the entire district will be presented, with discussion mainly focussing on urban schools in the Salmon Arm area (Salmon Arm West, Hillcrest, South Broadview, Bastion, Shuswap, SAS Jackson, and SAS Sullivan).
On Wednesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. there will be a rural Salmon Arm public session at Sorrento Elementary. An overview of the entire district will be presented, with discussion focussing on rural schools in the west region of the school district (North Shuswap, Sorrento and Carlin).
Please watch for a survey coming out in late February and open until Spring Break where you can also provide input on the long range facilities plan options.
