Administration changes

There will be some new faces in new places as the new school year begins.

Chelsea Prince will be the new principal at Pleasant Valley Secondary as Abbas El Gazzar has retired, while Deanna Brennan will be the vice-principal at Salmon Arm Secondary (Sullivan Campus).

At the middle schools, Noah Ralston will be vice-principal at Carlin and Kris Hryniw will be vice-principal at Len Wood. Sandra Major will join the team at Shuswap Middle, also as a vice-principal.

At the elementary level, David Wellingham will be moving to Salmon Arm West as principal, as Val Edgell moves to a full time position as district principal of numeracy as part of the school district’s efforts to improve student achievement in the area of numeracy.

Heather Gobbett will be taking over the reins as principal of South Broadview as former principal, Shawn Weeks, has decided to go back to full time teaching. Jared King will be the new principal at South Canoe as former principal Isabelle Gervais, has retired.

Laura Jegues will be the new vice-principal at Bastion. Mishel Quaal will be vice-principal at M.V. Beattie and Spencer Ward will be vice-principal at Highland Park. At the district level, Michelle Honcoop Reed is the vice-principal of music.

As of October 1st there will be changes at Sullivan and Jackson. Rob Cadden will be the new principal at Sullivan while current Sullivan principal Rob MacAulay will be the new principal for the district’s International Student Program and Education Outreach Program. As well, Steve Drapala and Rhys Waters will be the new principal and vice-principal, respectively, at Jackson.
