“Two years and three months ago this started out as a big hill to climb. Thanks to the work by staff and partner groups I think we are at the top of the hill,” commented Official Trustee Mike McKay at the Board of Education meeting on September 11 at the DESC when discussing the work which has been done to meet the 41 recommendations from the Special Advisor Report in June 2016.
He added a couple of the recommendations are out of the district’s purview and need to be mandated at the ministry or provincial level.
Everything that was possible has been done around transparency, more effective use of resources, reducing the size of the board, and establishing policies to help guide the board, McKay reported.
