Two incidents have affected our school district over the past 24 hours.
On Wednesday afternoon one of our school buses was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in the Armstrong area.
One student and two staff members were on the bus when the accident occurred. Fortunately, no one on the bus appears to have been injured, although media are reporting there were injuries in the other vehicles.
The bus was waiting to turn left on 97A when it was rear ended. There were apparently several vehicles involved in the accident.
On Thursday morning, Salmon Arm Secondary School was informed by RCMP that there was a threatening social media post made by a student who attended SAS.
The RCMP and school staff quickly determined the location of the student and the student was detained by RCMP. No weapons were found at the time. The incident is being taken very seriously and the school district safety procedures and protocols are being followed.
The safety of our students is always our top priority. The school district is committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students.
